I believe that the great state University of Wisconsin should ever encourage that continual and fearless sifting and winnowing by which alone the highest percentage shot can be found.

Breaking News!!! Jon Leuer Wearing Boot!
Sorry if this story broke already and I just haven't been online to find out about it, but I just saw Jon Leuer wearing a boot on his right leg in a restaurant on State Street. Given the willingness of the program having players wearing them as a precaution between games in past, I'm not sure this is anything to be concerned about. From what I could see, there wasn't any swelling or other indication of substantial injury, although I didn't want to just stand there at staring at his leg so I didn't get a great look over. Overall, he seemed to walk as normal as you can with a boot on. I'll post further details if they arise. Otherwise, this will be my only post of the night since I've got quite a bit of reading to do.

Wisconsin hires Coach Moore's replacement: Lamont Paris!
In a somewhat surprising hire, Bo Ryan selected someone outside his coaching tree to replace Howard Moore... Akron assistant coach Lamont Paris. Paris was an assistant coach at Akron for the past six seasons and was their lead recruiter. What should be interesting to see with this hire is if there is a shift in recruiting focus from the Chicago area to Paris' roots in Ohio.

Assistant Coach Howard Moore Accepts Head Coaching position at Illinois-Chicago
Assistant Coach Howard Moore was offered the head coaching position at the University of Illinois-Chicago this summer and accepted the opportunity to take on his first head coaching job. Coach Moore was the lead recruiter of the Chicago area for Wisconsin and specialized in working with the big men in practices.
Tagging along with Moore is Bo's son, video coordinator Matt Ryan, who will become Moore's Director of Basketball Operations. Lastly, Wisconsin's own Director of Basketball Operations, Joe Robinson, has decided to leave the program to pursue other sports-related career opportunities.

Fellow Sheboygan native Sam Dekker is a Badger!
Midway through the summer, Wisconsin received their first commitment for the class of 2012. Sam Dekker, a 6'7" G/F from Sheboygan Lutheran, verballed only one day after receiving an official offer from Bo Ryan. This coach's son has a great combination of size, shooting skill, athleticism, and court vision. As with many long and tall players his age, strength is a weakness, but that's nothing that some time with Scott Hettenbach can't fix. I expect to update regularly on Sam since I usually check out the Sheboygan Press frequently to see what dumb things people write to the editor about, haha.
One other great thing to come out of Sam's commitment, other than getting a great player, is that he and J.P. Tokoto are great friends. And shortly after he committed to Wisconsin, J.P.'s mom told Sam to try to convince J.P. to go to Wisconsin with him. Did I mention Sam is friends with Bronson Koenig too (enough so that they are listed as siblings with each other on facebook and Bronson's profile picture is a pic of all of three of them)?

Sorry About the Lack of Updates Over the Summer
Well, I'm back for the season for real now. Over the next day or so, I'll be updating all the loose ends like commitments, Howard Moore, scholarship offers, and possible divisions in the new Big Ten.
I'd also like to announce that I may be taking this show on the road. If I deem that I have the time, I will join the Badger Herald sports writing staff. Daily Cardinal, I expect you to start a bidding war for my services, haha. Whatever happens, I plan to keep this going, I'll just have dumbed down articles for the paper.
